Your Questions,

Answered.

  • I work with adults, with a particular focus on perinatal mental health, parenting, relationship challenges, anxiety, stress, burnout, and life transitions. You do not need to be in crisis to benefit from counselling.

  • Getting started in therapy is often one of the hardest parts. Finding the right therapist and taking the step to book an appointment can bring up a lot of uncertainty and anticipation. At Magnolia, we aim to make this process feel as safe, supported, and gentle as possible. We will talk you through the process, step by step once you get in contact with us.

  • Yes. Counselling is confidential, with some legal and ethical exceptions (such as risk of harm to yourself or others). These limits to confidentiality will be explained clearly in your first session.

  • The number of sessions varies depending on your goals and circumstances. Some people find short‑term counselling helpful, while others prefer ongoing support. We can review your progress together and adjust as needed.

  • No referral is required. You’re welcome to book directly.
If you plan to use a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) for Medicare rebates, you will need a referral from your GP.

  • You can reach us anytime via our contact page, phone or email. We offer Teleheatlh Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. We are in-clinic on Fridays.

  • What makes Magnolia Counselling different is that we don’t believe therapy should feel clinical or intimidating. You won’t be rushed, analysed, or expected to have the right words. Sessions are grounded, conversational, and shaped around what actually feels helpful for you.

  • The first session is about getting to know you. We’ll talk about what’s brought you to therapy, what you’re hoping for, and how we can work together. There is no pressure to dive into anything you’re not ready for.

  • I utilise a range of evidence‑based, focused psychological strategies, including CBT, ACT, and attachment‑informed approaches. Therapy is tailored to your individual needs, goals, and stage of life.

  • A strong therapeutic relationship is important. The first session is an opportunity to see if you feel comfortable, heard, and supported. It’s okay to take your time deciding if the fit feels right.
